Christmas in the City That Started It All
2026 is America's 250th anniversary — and nowhere in the country carries that history more visibly than Lower Manhattan at Christmas. The streets where Hamilton built the financial system. The church where Washington prayed after his inauguration. The tavern where he said farewell to his officers on December 4, 1783, just weeks after the British finally left this city.
Every stop on our Christmas tours this year carries an extra layer. The Wall Street Christmas Tree stands outside the NYSE — the exchange that grew from the Buttonwood Agreement of 1792, Hamilton's vision made real. Trinity Church, where Hamilton and Eliza are buried, has held Christmas services continuously since before the United States existed. St. Paul's Chapel — the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan, standing since 1766 — survived the Great Fire of 1776 and September 11th without a scratch.
This is not just a Christmas lights tour. It's Christmas in the most historically significant neighborhood in America, in the year that neighborhood's history means the most.

On December 4, 1783, George Washington gathered his officers in the Long Room of Fraunces Tavern to thank them for their service and bid an emotional farewell before returning to Mount Vernon. On December 6, 2026, the Fraunces Tavern Museum brings that moment back to life — a full reenactment in the exact room where it happened, with Washington himself present. This is the perfect companion to the opening day of your Christmas tour season, and one of the most meaningful America 250 events in New York City.

Trinity Church Wall Street presents what The New York Times calls the "gold standard" performance of Handel's Messiah. A free outreach performance runs December 10 at 4pm — open to all, no tickets required. Full performances December 10, 11, and 12 at 7pm. Steps from the Wall Street tour route. St. Paul's Chapel at 209 Broadway — the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan, standing since 1766, which survived the Great Fire of 1776 and September 11th without a single broken window — hosts a Community Carol Sing. December 22 at 7:30pm and December 23 at 3pm. An extravaganza of Christmas favorites for brass and choir. Free and open to all.

Trinity Church — Christmas Eve Festive Choral Eucharist
Trinity Church hosts its Christmas Eve Festive Choral Eucharist at 9pm — one of the most beautiful liturgical events in the city, featuring the Trinity Choir and the newly inaugurated Glatter-Götz/Rosales pipe organ. No tickets required. Open to all faiths and backgrounds. The midnight atmosphere of this neighborhood on Christmas Eve is unlike anything else in New York.

Do the tours run on Christmas Day?
Yes — both tours run on December 25th. We are one of the very few tour operators in New York City running on Christmas Day. It is consistently one of the best nights of the season — the city is quieter, the streets feel like they belong to you, and the lights hit differently. Christmas Day tours fill first. Book early.
What is the difference between the minibus and walking tour?
The Minibus & Walking Tour ($89) covers more ground — 4 hours, heated vehicle, 8+ stops across Lower Manhattan with walking time at every location. Max 28 guests. The Walking Tour ($39) is more intimate — 2 hours on foot through the Financial District with deeper history at each stop. Max 15 guests. Both include a local guide with the stories most Christmas tours skip entirely.

Do tours run in the rain?
Yes — both tours run rain or shine. The minibus tour keeps you warm and dry between stops. In the event of extreme weather alerts we will contact you to reschedule or provide a full refund.
What is your cancellation policy?
For Christmas tours, a full refund with at least 72 hours notice before your tour date. Cancellations under 72 hours are non-refundable.
